At Blumers we are a specialist firm and only take on cases involving injured people seeking financial compensation.
What is a specialist firm?
In Australia, most law firms are either generalist or specialist. Generalist firms do legal work in many different areas of the law; in some cases whatever comes in the door are cases they will take on. Specialist firms focus on one area of the law or sector of the community.
What is so special about a specialist?
Specialist law firms should be really good at what they do. Just like a specialist doctor, who has seen every side of their particular area, a specialist firm should be experienced in all the aspects of their field. Because at Blumers we only work on injury claims, everyone in our office already knows the subject matter, prospects, claims process and procedural matters backwards.
Know when to hold ’em, know when to fold ’em
Because we focus on claims for injured people, we are dealing with the same courts, defendant firms, insurance companies, and claims officers regularly. This means that when it comes to progressing a claim we have a pretty good idea of what will be successful and what won’t be. You usually only get one chance and it needs to be done right the first time. When the going gets tough, we also know which cases to press on with and which ones ultimately are unlikely to be successful, saving everybody time and money in the long run.
No conflicts of interest
Some firms do work for a variety of clients, including injured people, other professionals, businesses and insurance companies. Because Blumers only takes on cases for injured people there will never be any doubt that we are pursuing our clients’ cases without fear or favour. We don’t owe anyone in the big end of town any favours and so getting great results in our clients’ cases are our priority.
Getting the evidence right
In a specialist firm like ours, we know which expert witnesses are accepted by the Courts so they can provide the evidence you will need in your case (or what you may not). These include specialised medical and liability experts, including engineers & ergonomists. We also know which experts offer the best value for money and provide the material we need to progress cases in a timely fashion.
We already know the law
Specialist lawyers will already be across the thick and thin of the relevant laws and cases in the field. At Blumers you don’t need to pay us to research the law relating to your case, as a general rule, because we are already across it and know what to do and when. We are already experts at all of the ins and outs.
We fund disbursements for expert reports to finish your case faster
Some firms might want you to pay money for the experts’ reports and court fees to get your case moving. We know that people who are injured probably don’t have a lot of money spare to fund these sorts of things. We have a facility to fund these disbursements up front so you don’t have to worry and can concentrate on getting better. This means it is in our interests to ensure the best experts are used to progress your case.
